Why are we called LadyBugsTM?
I [Barb Forss] received an e-mail from a woman named Jayne Reetz. We became fast friends before meeting for the first time in the summer of 2003. Previous to that, I told Jayne that I'd just purchased 1,000 live ladybugs to place near my rosebushes for aphid control and that apparently, they had all promptly...flown the coop! Jayne jokingly replied something like, "They landed at my house! They're everywhere here in Wisconsin; we can't get rid of them! If I'd known you were going to BUY some, I would have gathered up ours and mailed them to you... for free!" So it was no surprise when we finally met, that we each brought the other one a few symbolic ladybug-themed gifts.
We even began signing off on our correspondence with "BugHugs," "BarbieBug," or "JaynieBug," even sometimes referring to how we felt as a bit...buggy! A few weeks later, Jayne sent me an article from her newspaper on ladybugs and how, when stressed, they do something called "reflex bleeding in their joints." I had been referring to our WWBD get-togethers as "Women With Bleeding Disorders Support," but when a meeting room had us listed once as "Women with BREATHING Disorders Support," I knew we needed a catchier name! Ladybugs bleeding in their joints seemed perfect, and a shoo-in once I also learned that in many cultures, a ladybug is a symbol of good luck.
LadyBugs, LLCTM means we are a Limited Liability Corporation. We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of FactorHealth Management, LLCTM. Our trademarked name and logo of two ladybugs facing each other symbolizes women putting their heads together to help each other!
