It is with humility and honor that I [Barb Forss] dedicate this website to a woman who is the embodiment of LadyBug Spirit and Grace, Maxine Bender Segal.

"Max" is the adoring mother of two of my childhood friends, Scott and Doug Segal, severe F-VIII hemophiliacs who passed away within six months of each other while in their early 30's. Her story of unconditional love and devotion to her sons, while battling her own guilt about being the carrier who gave them hemophilia, is compelling. Her emotional and sometimes painful journey, along with her triumphs and tribulations, is one that many LadyBugs share. She tells this story in detail in her book, 'Tis Better to Have Loved and Lost, a must-read for anyone in the bleeding disorders community.
